Droitwich Spa is situated close to the M5, M6 and M42 Motorways and is surrounded by the beautiful rural Worcestershire countryside. The town is an ideal base for holidays and sightseeing with many exciting attractions nearby and it has the benefit of good transport links.

The county town and city of Worcester is only 7 miles away with its magnificent cathedral, wide selection of shops and picturesque location on the River Severn. Other attractions include the Guildhall, Commandery Museum, City Art Gallery and Museum and the Hive. Worcester is also home to Worcestershire County cricket team, Worcester Wolves basket ball team and Worcester Racecourse. Worcester Warriors rugby union at Sixways Stadium is on the outskirts of the City. 

Avoncroft Museum

avoncroft.jpgAvoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings near Bromsgrove is an award-winning museum that spans 700 years of life in the Midlands.  It is England’s first open-air museum and has a collection of 30 rescued buildings and structures in beautiful 19 acre grounds.

All the exhibits have been rescued from demolition or dereliction and carefully rebuilt at Avoncroft.  These include a windmill, a medieval town house, a fully-furnished 1940s prefab and a corrugated iron Victorian church. 

There are also buildings commemorating the area’s industrial heritage and our 100 year forge and 19th century chain-making shop are still used for training courses and demonstrations today.  The Museum is also home to the National Telephone Kiosk Collection and a traditional cider and perry orchard.

Hanbury Hall and Gardens

hanbury-hall.jpgA short drive from Droitwich Spa is Hanbury Hall and Gardens, a National Trust property built in 1701. The house is a William and Mary styled red brick building and contains the Watney Porcelain collection and a painted ceiling and staircase by Thornhill. Nearby is the Jinney Ring Craft Centre which is collection of twelve craft workshops, a gallery and restaurant.

Witley Court

whitley-court.jpgWitley Court is an English Heritage property and estate with extensive gardens, situated approximately 10 miles from Droitwich Spa, towards Tenbury Wells. The vast remains of this palatial 19th century mansion surrounded by magnificent landscaped gardens and containing huge stone fountains provide a great day out in the Worcestershire countryside.

Hartlebury Castle and Worcestershire County Museum

hartlebury-castle.jpgHartlebury lies midway between Droitwich Spa and Kidderminster and is the location for both the Hartlebury Castle and Worcestershire County Museum. The Hartlebury Castle is owned by the Church Commissioners and is operated by a Preservation Trust. The many interesting features include state rooms, the Great Hall, the Chapel, the 18th Century saloon, the Prince's bedroom and the Hurd Library.

For the adventurous Top Barn Activity Centre at Holt Heath is approximately 6 miles away, offering an exciting range of outdoor pursuit activities, water sports, nature trails, equestrian centre, a farm shop and, in the summer, a maize maze.

Nearby Bromsgrove is the location for the Avoncroft Museum of Buildings. Here a fascinating collection of ancient buildings have been saved from demolition and re-erected.

Closer to the Town Centre, the Webbs Garden Centre at Wychbold is an award winning retail complex offering everything for the gardener and the horticulturalist. The Centre also features a restaurant, children's play area and craft shops.
